Many websites and resources offer tools for creating report card comments, a significant limitation of these options is their generic nature. These tools often fail to capture the unique attributes and abilities of each student, primarily because they're designed without a personalized understanding of the student's characteristics. Our method starts with well-structured and grammatically sound comments as a base. We then enrich these comments with detailed insights into the student's learning environment, goals, and performance, ensuring that our feedback is both meaningful and precise. Creating an honest and nuanced report can be particularly challenging for some students, possibly due to behaviour or learning ability of the student or previous experiences with parental communication and feedback. My Report streamlines this process, helping to foster a stronger and more positive connection between teachers and parents through enhanced communication quality.
Decide which expectations and associated achievement levels you are going to report on.
Enter required text and drop down selection.
Click My Report button when finished.
In a character-counted box, edit the response before copying it to the clipboard.
Once you are ready to go select Start My Report from top menu bar. Then fill out the form by selecting options from various drop-down menus and entering details into text boxes to gather the required information. Providing the student's name is optional.
Enter the specific expectation or learning skill into the designated field. The example provided uses Grade 6 Patterns and Relationships expectation C1.1. To access links to the Ontario Curriculum and learning skills, use the "My Report" menu to open a new tab. Be patient, the Ministry Website is slow at times. In the "Include an example(s) of learning:" field, provide an example of learning. This should be a concise statement describing what was said or shown. This can be left blank but it affects the individualization of the comment.
After completing the form, click the "My Report" button to receive a personalized comment. This comment is entirely editable, allowing for further customization, including adjustments to better suit individual needs while providing an updated character count. Upon finalizing, use the "Copy to clipboard" button to copy the comment, which can then be pasted into a report card program or a specific file. As with any AI there may be responses that have been incorrectly processed and are not completely accurate. Although rare it is the teachers' responsibility to ensure all comments have been checked and edited so that they give an accurate assessment for the intended individual.
